Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It's Off To Work I Go

So, I'll be boarding a plane in about 6 hrs (me and this new person growing inside of me, heh). Fresno, to Frisco....Frisco to Narita, Japan.....Japan To Ulsan, South Korea. I'm excited about this new project with Honda...but at the same time I'm a little nervous. I hope I'll be at my best in interpretation and translation. I'm most worried that I may get sick while I'm over there, being in my 5th week of pregnancy and all. I've had the privilege of being sick these past couple of days......I can't stand the smell of meat, and I seem to LOVE lemons!

Anyhow, I'm sad that I won't be able to read Blogs for a week! I'm going to be wondering what's going on in Grace's World, What 10 crazy thigs Larry did, Julia's hotness, and the lovely letters by little Eyes. I'm looking forward on catching up once I return.

Ok, I sound like I'm trying to say or bid my last farewells or something......I'm only going to be gone for a week. I wish everyone a safe week, don't work too hard you guys......And don't forget to have a drink on me, that includes all alcoholic beverages, anything with caffine, and even some nicotine!

The Verdict Is.........

The Verdict is in, and it looks like we're having a little Grace Julia, or Larry Jr. Although, I still haven't had a blood test, but the retest on that Urine thing was positive. Now I'm freakin out just a little, cause I'm leaving on this business trip to Ulsan, Korea on Saturday......and I'll be doing this every month for the next 6 months, hope I don't get any illness that comes with this baby in the belly thing. Just wanted to thank you guys for lending your ears (eyes) and being there for me (so to speak). I'm sure I'll have a lot to talk (write) about! Gotta get back to work!

The Unknown

I hate not knowing things....that's just part of my nature, maybe that's why I'm such a "know it all". I always have to know what's going on about who, and where....well you know how the rest goes. Anyhoo, so I went to the doctors to get a confirmation on this "baby in the belly" thing. The people were really nice and seemed to be a bit more on the personal level, made me feel kinda good. So, I explained the situation with the home pregnancy test, and that I was there to confirm the whole thing. After a short "interview" so to speak, the nurse goes to get the test ready. Finally, I'll know for sure, and I can stop worrying. Yeah right! The nurse comes in the room with the same test I took at home.....what the hay? (I really have to stop saying that). I thought I was going to get a blood test, isn't that what most doctors do?

I did not take time out of work, to go to the doctors and take that same darn test I took at home! GRRRRRRR! I was a bit irritated. Anyhow, I did the whole peeing in the cup, but this time I was given the pleasure of watching the nurse dip the stick in my pee (that was kinda weird). We waited, she tried talking to me about where I was from, what I do, etc.....the whole time I'm looking at the test and listening to the timer tick and tock itself away. DING! ok now time to look......Not Pregnant. What? C'mon now.....Am I or Am I Not pregnant? I have sensitive boobies, and well, that's about it, heh.

So the nurse says, lets do another one just to be on the safe side. Huh? Can I even pee again? So she gives me more water, and more water, and even more water. Nothing. The nurse then suggested several possiblities. First, it's still abit early to tell, because if I was pregnant, I'd only be 4 weeks or so. Second, it's better to take the test in the morning when I first have to pee.

So after all that, I'm still in the "unknown". I have to go back tomorrow morning, bright and early to give them a sample of my first urine of the day. I don't know why they don't just do a blood test to determine whether I am or am not pregnant. I'll fill you guys in tomorrow!

Unexpected Things In Life

So it's Valentines Day........for everyone else =( For me it's my husband's Birthday! Didn't do much....he got enough spoiling from my Mom. I decided to stay with tradition and cook him "mee yuk gook" you know, seaweed soup. I still don't know why Koreans eat that for their first meal on their B-Days.....And we just had a quiet night at home, plus we were tired from our weekend trip to Vegas.

Some of you may already know that Jhonnie and I have stopped using...ehem....protection. We're married now, so we decided it wasn't needed anymore. However, I recently signed on with Honda Corporation of America as a contractor to be their Korean Interpreter for a project they're doing.....so I will be traveling to Korea frequently in the next few months (first trip is this Saturday). Because this is such a great opportunity for us, we decided to hold off on the whole "baby making thing"......up until NOW!

Last month, we tried this conception calender thing we found on the internet, and just for fun we follwed it religiously. Due to some past medical history, it's a little harder for me to conceive( so I was told) So we weren't really expecting any results form this "conception calender". I also had a pregnancy test (Clear Blue or something like that) sitting around in our medicine cabinet, and since I'd never taken one, I thought it would be fun to try one out, besides I had to pee really bad so the timing was a bit convenient. I peed in the cup, and dipped the stick in the pee, and waited....not really concerned cause I wasn't expecting it to come out positive. Not even 1 minute (the directions say to wait a whole 3 mins), and I see the word PREGNANT. What the hay? That can't be right....that REALLY can't be right....I'm leaving for a business trip on Saturday, and we decided that having a baby right now would just get in the way of things. Plus, I still have a lot of growing up to do myself, that can't be right.

On the other hand, I was also a little concerned, because I had just had an x-ray of my tooth, and was on Vikatin and Mycin for a couple of days......I'm kinda shcared! So, I'm a mess right about now. I have this great job, job of a lifetime with lots of dollar signs, and I might be pregnant? I don't know for sure, gonna have to start calling around to see which doctor has an immediate opening to see me, and then, I guess I'll have to go from there.

It's just uncanny to me, when were trying, we weren't getting any results, and now that we've put it on hold to pursue my dreams....we may be unexpectedly pregnant. Sometimes, I just don't know what to do with these Unexpected Things that life throws at me. Don't get me wrong, If I am pregnant, it'll be a wonderful blessing, but at the same time, I thought this new project with Honda was a wonderful blessing. I guess I'll find out for sure sometime this week, but as for now......Honda doesnt have to know, so sshhhh!

Vegas With No Wisdom Tooth

Yay~ I made it! As you know I had my wisdom tooth taken out late thursday (thank you to all who sent me a get well note...muah). I was determined to still go to Vegas as planned for my Mom's B-day...also for Jhonnie"s (born on valentines....sucks for me!). I wasn't in much pain anymore so we went ahead and took off on Friday. We spent time with family, went shopping, and went to church. And the best part of going back home was to see mommy! Everytime we go visit my mom, I turn into this spoiled little brat (that I am, hehehehe). I try not to do it anymore, cause I know Jhonnie gets a little freaked out, but I still can't help it! Anyhow, we bought Mom a tempurpedic mattress (Im telling you, youguys have to get one!), she loved it!

We pigged out at like ALL the buffets, breakfats, lunch, and dinner. It amazes me, how much food one can consume, but then again.......Vegas has the best food! And yay! No gambling!!!!!!

We're back now....just wanted to let everyone know that I'm feeling soooooo much better, and now when I chew, I chew in peace. The side of my mouth doesn't get caught in between my teeth. Ahhhhhhh, comfort!

Uh-oh....Vikatin

Just got back from the dentist, and had a wisdom tooth pulled. Funny thing though, they didn't pull the wisdom tooth that was bothering me. The one that was giving me so much pain, is the one on the bottom right side, but they pulled the one on the top right side. The dentist said, the pain was comming from the pressure of the top tooth comming down on the bottom. Anyhoo, I just took a Vikatin so I may not be making much swnse, but I'm sure thedentist knew what he was doing.

Well, off to bed I go, and I WILL be going to Vegas tomorrow! So hope everyone has a great weekend! Better than mine at the least!

Ouch, My Wisdom Tooth

It's almost 4:30 AM, and I can't sleep due to this damned wisdom tooth. I felt some slight pain yesterday, actually it was more like discomfort, but it was bearable. I was even on the phone with Kazuyo (my best friend who's in Ohio) for almost 2 hrs, and still could bare the discomfort. Then I realized the whole right side of my face was swollen......so i decided to sleep it off. Moaned the whole time I thought I was sleeping, finally got up around 3:00 AM with tears!!!!! Gargled with salt water, took some Alieve, and hopped in the car to some of the dentists offices near the house, to see what time they open. Stupid offices don't even have their business hours posted on the door....WTH?

I came home and started looking through the yellow pages......see stupid me, I didn't join the dental coverage on my insurance plan....DOH! So I'm looking through these yellow pages (in excruciating pain) and I come accross some ads that say 24 Hour Dental Service....I call and get a voice mail.....now can someone tell me, how the heck is that 24 hour dental service? So I'm holding the right side of my swollen face, wondering why the heck didn't i join the dental coverage on my insurance, and wondering if I'm going to need oral surgery.....I don't even have a dentist yet! Not only that, but I'm supposed to be going to Vegas to visit my Mom tomorrow......

So that's how I came to write my blog so early in the morning, or is it late at night? I'm waiting for that clock to say 8:00 so I can rush to the nearest dentist.....I guess I'll be spending a few hundred on this stupid wisdom tooth, and yet I still have 3 more that need to be taken out! I just can't take this pain anymore, I want to just yank the damned tooth out myself! Wisdom tooth? Who the hell thought of calling it that? Chi~~~~ Wisdom tooth my a$$

Shopping in LA

My hubby and I went to LA yesterday...just for the day, to shop and EAT of course! LA's only like a 3 hour drive from Fresno, so it wasn't that bad of a drive. We woke up in the middle of the night (sunday night) for a little "summin summin". After all the action was done, we lie there and my hubby says," wanna go to LA?"
I love to go to the fashion and jewelry district in downtown LA, oh and who can forget about the food? I would be a fool to say no.....besides that would mean I wouldnt have to cook that day.....heck ya, I wanna go to LA. So off we go......had the big 'ol ice box in the trunk.......for the groceries of course.

So we shopped all day, bought some nick naks for the house, then went to the jewlery wholesalers....(a friend of mine does jewlery wholesale on 6th and Hill). We (I) of course went happy, got some earings, and a new tennis bracelet.....heee heee heee! Bought my hubby a bracelet too....jeez. Then we were off to K-town. It's funny how I felt so out of place though. I lived in LA for almost 10 yrs, well more like Walnut, Rowland Hts, Diamond Bar area, but still.......I used to be in LA on Fri, Sat, and Sun.....so why the heck did I feel like such an outsider? Living in LA, I never realized how easy and convenient life was. You don't have to cook anything...just go to the Gajoo market or something and buy the all those banchans (side dishes), and precooked food that is da bomb! Or even when it comes to nik naks.....just hop in the car and head for Kim's Jungee. Man you LA folks have it made....(me no longer an LA girl =(
There is one thing I don't miss.....all those stupid LA girls that are so vain....WTH? Get over it already! And the traffice.....yuk!

So now the fridge is filled with all kinds of yummies, and my jewlery box full of all kinds of "bling bling" thanks honey!!!! This weekend we'll be in Vegas for my mom's B-day, and for my hubby's B-day.......Jhonnie's b-day is on Valentines Day.......that sucks for me!!!!!!

To Be Or Not To Be....Mrs. Lee

Ok....I have to be honest here. Jhonnie and I have yet to go to the recorder's office to report our marriage. I'm just not sure I want to be Barbara Lee....it kinda sounds like Sara Lee, you know from "nobody doesn't like sara lee" or even Janet Lee, isn't that the name of some other bakery. Anyhow, I know it's not a big deal because Lee is a common name....but I've always been Barbara Brennan, so we've (I..heh) decided that I will now be Mrs. Barbara Brennan-Lee. It just sounds better.

At least I didn't offend Mr. Lee with my decision, being that he's sooooooo proud of the Lee history and ancestry. Ooopsss, I should clarify that he is part of the "jun-joo lee" family (in case he ever reads this...heh). Koreans are so, uhhhhhh...... unique (?) when it comes to their last names. Who cares what kingdom you're from and all that other history (key word being history). I wonder if other nationalities feel that "pride" when it comes to their last names.

Anyhoo, on a different note, I nearly went insane today, trying to figure out how to add links to my Blog. What the "hay".....am I that P.C. illiterate, jeez. It almost took me the whole day to finally figure it out (with the help of Grace.....thank you!), and all for just adding a measly 4 links. I'm trying to make the appearance of my Blog a little bit more amusing, since most of you have these "fancy wancy" ones *sticking tongue out*....yeah, you know who you are!

I also met a fellow FOB.....just kidding "little eyes" Yay~~~~Im so excited I have someone to talk with about korean soaps! See, I'm not the only one that finds pleasure in other people's drama.....it helps take a load off...heh.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

As you know, I am a product of an inter-racial marriage. My Mother, an old fashioned korean woman with strong christian beliefs. My Father, a German man, whom I didn't really share a close relationship with. My parents met in college. My father was a foriegn exchange student at the university my Mother was attending. Anyhow, to make a long story short....they fell in love, got married, moved to the States, had me, and got divorced. My Father was not really a big part of my life...it was always just me and mom. My Father then past away when I was 13 or 14.

My mom raised me with such strong Korean influence, that I sometimes forget I'm not 100% Korean. That's ok, because I'm proud of who I am, and of my Mom for being so strong and strict. My mom always wanted me to be the best. (I'm sure that goes for all moms). Being only half Korean is no biggie, cause I'm pretty much more Korean than any other full Korean.

The reason I'm being so personal is because I ran into the most 2 ignorant koreans today. I was at the Korean market here in Fresno (renting some more of my Korean soaps that I'm so addicted to, heh). These 2 ladies had the audacity to talk $%&* about me in Korean.....while I was standing right next to them.....hello? They were trying to figure out why this white girl (referring to me), or possibly mexican girl (that's a new one, never heard that one before) is renting korean videos when she won't even be able to understand. I was pissed! Had steam comming out of all angles and every opening of my body! I had to say something......

Remember this conversation was in Korean

Me: Excuse me.......I speak and understand Korean. Do you think you should be talking about someone like that? Whether or not I watch korean videos or understand them is none of your concern. I know you're older than I am, but with all due respect where did you learn your etiquette?
2 Korean Ladies: *blank stare and silence*

The 2 ladies didnt say a word. Why is that? They had plenty to say before I interuppted. Their silence pissed me off even more, so I said it. The ulitmate korean saying that is the ultimate degrade.........

Me: Boo mo ga bool sang ha nae yo.......translation: I pity your parents.

Anyhow, I guess what I learned today was that looks ARE deceiving, but little did I know, that it was my own look that was deceiving, not only to me, but to others as well. I'm not so offended or angry with those 2 woman who looked at me and didn't think I was korean, I'm more offended that these 2 ladies were Korean, a race that I am so proud to be part of, an how they could be so ignorant and uneducated.

I know Imma think twice before I start sayin' something about someone in korean, who looks like they may not understand.....you know what I'm talking about.....we all do it......admit it.....dont lie, I know you all do too! ;)
