Only in Cali

Gosh the whether has been so nice these days out here in Fresno. We've been in the high 70's to low 80's......and we're still in the season of winter, can you believe it? Well, since the whether was so nice we decided to go to the lake this past saturday. Go to swim, have a bar-b-q, and just relax. I had made some potatoe salad, marinated some patties for our hamburgers, and had the sunblock ready to go. Boy were we in for a surprise.

So there we were dressed in shorts and tank tops....and can't forget our sandals, and off we go. The lake was like an hour drive, but I couldn't help but notice that we were up in the mountains...that's when I asked Drew (a new friend of ours) "why is the lake in the mountains?" I don't know if it's because I've always lived in or near a beach city, but I really didn't know that lakes were in mountains. Anyhow, as we got closer to "Shaver Lake", I started to see snow. WTH?

Well, we arrived to our destination, shorts, tank-tops, sandals and all........and saw that we were the only ones dressed for some fun in the sun so to speak. All the other families had on their snow boots and were having snow fights. But that's ok, cause I was a part of this group and I always know how to make the best of things. We unloaded the car, started the grill, and bar-b q'd away. We had a group of 5 and even though the lake wasn't what we excpected, we had a blast. The food was great, the sun shinning, and we played in the snow (dressed the way we were)....couldn't have asked for a better day! Only in Cali can you swim, and play in the snow at the same time! I love this state!
